In keeping with Per°Form’s commitment to fostering contextualised research, situated practices, and translocal knowledge production as shared resources, we invite an independent artist to attend Per°Form Open Academy as an essayist articulating their perspective on the proceedings.
With the aim of creating diverse avenues for meaningful dialogue, and a commitment to the essayist’s intent and ideas, the essays are published as written, with little to no amendments.
2023
For the 2023 edition of Per°Form Open Academy of Arts and Activations, we invited Rebecca G, an independent interdisciplinary theatre director, writer, dramaturg and facilitator, as the essayist. Rebecca contributes three essays, published unedited. Each essay reflects the experiences, observations and engagement they had with the Per°Form Fellows, Singapore-based Art Pals, our engaged public, and the organisational team. Untethered from organisational ties, yet deeply engaged in the everyday processes of the Open Academy, Rebecca’s position adds a unique and invaluable ‘insider-outsider’ dimension to their contributions.
Rebecca G is an interdisciplinary theatre director, writer, dramaturg, and facilitator. Their practice spans site-specific multimedia storytelling, international / crosscultural collaborations, physical theatre, and immersive documentary performance.
Driven by an activist ethos that centres communal co-creation and celebration, their work currently experiments with scientific paradigms, ecoscenography, and queer theory. They strive to facilitate accessible spaces for empathy, interaction, and rediscovery of marginalised and forgotten narratives. Find out more.
